Axilone: idyllic development and logistics management for Guerlain

Axilone (Ileos group), one of the world’s leading manufacturers in caps and closures for the perfume, cosmetics and make up industry, produced the stopper of Guerlain’s new fragrance “Idylle”.

The stopper is made from a metallised plastic and comes in 2 sizes (for 30ml and 50/100ml bottles). It comprises several, individually produced pieces : an insert in black PP, an extra element to provide weight and an air of solidity, a galvanised golden collar and a cap, vacuum metallized in gold. The pieces are put together in a single, mechanical operation, saving a considerable amount of time.

The design and development process were very short: Axilone claims that only four months were needed to finalise the product and put together the assembly machine.

Optimising logistics management: the finished pieces are placed on special thermoformed trays, which are then palletised. Once the stoppers are delivered to Guerlain, the trays are returned to Axilone and used for the next delivery.
