
Joao Carlos Basílio Da Silva, the president of the ABIHPEC, the Brazilian Toiletry, Perfumery and Cosmetic Association, estimates that the industry’s sales grew by 16% to reach US$ 13.9 billions in 2009, against 11.9 billions in 2008 (ex-factory prices, taxes not included). While these figures still have to be consolidated they remain impressive, in particular as they are mostly due to the dynamism of Brazil’s internal demand as exports decreased.
