Since its move into a new manufacturing facility for skincare packaging in Milan, Italy, in August 2014, US-headquartered packaging manufacturer MWV has produced nearly 100 million units, and is on track to up production by 9-10 per cent over last year’s figure.

MWV has manufactured packaging for beauty and personal care products in Milan since 1987. Due to lack of space and capacity to take on new projects and customers, the Milan team packed up to move in August 2014 to a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. “The transition was seamless; not only for MWV, but for our customers as well, as not a single interruption of service was felt,” says the company.

The new plant has close to twice the manufacturing capacity of the old plant - around 300 million units per year can be made - as well as an on-site laboratory for testing. Already, a number of new jobs have been created, as the full-time staff has swelled by 10 per cent.

As our team and capabilities grow, it’s essential that we utilize state-of-the-art manufacturing processes to best serve our customers,” said Lorenzo Senegaglia, general manager of MWV’s Milan operation. “During the move, we had the opportunity to take a fresh look at our machinery layout and process flow to streamline the movement of materials.

This facility is MWV’s Skincare Center of Excellence for Europe - similar to MWV’s Fragrance Center of Excellence in Barcelona - where the group will develop new - and manufacture existing [1] - dispensing solutions for their extensive skincare portfolio.
