Anthony Chalhoub co-CEO of the Chalhoub Group has passed away in Paris “after courageously battling illness for the past years”, announced the company.

Anthony Chalhoub was married and father of two.

Specializing in the distribution of luxury goods in the Middle East for over 60 years, the Chalhoub Group has become a major player in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle sectors in the region. Based in Dubai, the group now has more than 12,000 employees in 14 countries and manages over 650 points of sale. The group has been managing Sephora shops in the region as part of a joint venture with the LVMH group since 2006.

It was in 1975 that Anthony Chalhoub joined the group founded by his parents Michel and Widad Chalhoub. He co-directed the company alongside his younger brother Patrick, who joined the group in 1979.

In addition to his activities as co-manager of the group, Anthony Chalhoub was also Managing Director of three luxury goods distribution companies in the Middle East: Habchi & Chalhoub, Louis Vuitton and Dior Couture.

A co-founder of the Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA), he served for four years as vice-president and then as president for four years.
