How does a company diversify itself from the production of glasses for car lights (20 million units per year) to the production of washing machine windows (16 million units per year) then to luxury glass for the cosmetics and perfumery business? Through a great leap forward that the managers of the Italian glassmaker Vetrerie Riunite, Finvetro Group, decided few years ago for their manufacturing unit in Verona (northern Italy).

And it was a success! In particular thanks to a technology the glassmaker has been mastering for several years: pressed glass. A technique that authorizes a wide variety of forms and a standard tolerance that is quite unusual in the perfumery industry. Engraved surfaces are also easy to obtain, allowing the vial and the product inside to stand out from the mass. “It’s an original product that unchains designers’ creativity, a product that can be very heavy with a perfect transparency,” Fausto Formaggioni, Sales director, explains.

Vetrerie Riunite recently invested in the rebuilding of one of the three ovens in Verona’s plant, upgrading its capacity from 75 tons a day to 100 tons a day.
