Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, Canada’s largest pharmacy chain operator with more than 1000 stores operating under the names Shoppers Drug Mart in nine provinces and two territories and Pharmaprix in Quebec, has inaugurated its new retail beauty store, Murale, this November 8th in Place d’Orléans in Ottawa (Ontario).

Luxury assortment

The first Murale location to open in Canada is featuring a selected assortment of luxury, dermatological, fragrance and niche brands from around the world. The store’s fragrance section includes over 75 men’s and women’s scents from fragrance houses and designers like Prada, Donna Karan, Chloé, Cartier and Etat Libre d’Orange. The skincare assortment similarly features brands like Natura Bissé, Vichy, Murad, and Darphin.

Trained staff and services

Murale is staffed with “Beauty Masters” trained to assist customers in finding cosmetics and fragrances suited to their needs and also to provide expert makeup applications. Murale’s professional skin care team is comprised of a full-time Aesthetician and Pharmacist, to provide service and advices focused on personalized consultation.

Murale will also offer unique services including the first ever Benefit Brow Bar in Canada and a menu of over 30 professional beauty and spa services available in two private cabines located adjacent to the dermatological area.

The next Murale location is schedule to open next month (December 4, 2008) in Montreal, Quebec.

Earlier in November, US drugstore chain CVS/pharmacy, and retail division of CVS Caremark, also stepped into the high-end beauty retail business withthe opening of the first of a series of stores named Beauty 360.
