Ashok Sudan, SGD’s new CEO

Ashok Sudan has been appointed CEO of the group SGD (formerly Saint-Gobain Desjonquères), the world leader in glass bottles for perfumery, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. He succeeds Thierry Dillard, who will continue to provide support and to advise shareholders and the management of the group to facilitate the transition.

The change at the head of SGD is following the renegotiation of the group’s debt and the arrival of the U.S. fund Oaktree in the capital. Aged 56 years, Ashok Sudan has made the vast majority of his career with Graham Packaging Group, a leading global manufacturer of packaging. Most recently, he was Executive Vice-President and General Manager in charge of the main division that combines the beverage industry and food, representing a turnover of 1.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2009.

Ashok Sudan has an MBA from the University of Indiana (Bloomington, USA), a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a degree in mechanical engineering obtained in the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur, India).
