A two-day conference

Over 1,400 participants from some thirty countries representing the leading international brands and their packaging suppliers are expected to attend.

The conference and exhibition programme is being prepared and will be published in October 2009. The core theme of the lectures will be sustainable development. The sessions on make-up, perfumes, hygiene, beauty and body care will highlight the following aspects: “Multi sensory packaging”, “Active packaging” and “Customisation”. [1]

Simultaneous translation (French-English and English-French) is provided for each presentation.

An exhibition runs in parallel with the conference

Each year, the conference program is completed by an exhibition that features leading packaging suppliers in each of the categories: glass, pumps and dispensing systems, materials (metals, plastics, paper, cardboard), converters, surface treatment and artwork, fight against counterfeit, service providers, etc.

The layout of the venue, "on a human scale", which groups together the conference, exhibition and more social moments in the same area, is particularly conducive to visiting the stands for exchanges and additional information. [2]

PCD 2010 Awards

The PCD Awards are intended to single out “packaging innovations” and in particular the aspects pertaining to “complementarity - formulation - packaging compatibility”. The awards are remitted by an independent jury featuring journalists and packaging experts in the field of perfumes and cosmetics.

Competing for the PCD Awards is free of charge. Participation in the PCD 2010 Awards competition is opened to products sold on the European market between the 1st January and the 31st December 2009. Companies interested in running must send an A4 document explaining the product innovations, together with samples, by mail. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday 13th November 2009. [3]

For 2010, a new category has been created: “Collector”. Furthermore, special attention will be paid to “instrumental cosmetic products”.

Among the products awarded in 2009 were:

 in the “skin care” category , “Blanc Expert GN-White” by Lancôme
 in the “eye make-up” category, “Phenomen’Eyes Mascara” by Givenchy and "Exceptionnel Mascara" by Chanel
 in the “women’s perfumes” category, “Magnifique” by Lancôme
 in the “men’s perfume” cateory “Roadster” by Cartier

The jury also granted a special distinction to the “Culture Bio” range by Yves Rocher, in “Environmentally compatible cosmetics packaging” category, and, to “Féerie” by Van Cleef & Arpels, Inter Parfums, in the “Women’s Parfum” category.

A sustainable event

At a time when sustainable development lies at the heart of brands’ strategies, the PCD’s concept is particularly relevant,” the organisers of the event claim, highlighting the facts that:
