The Perfumes, Cosmetics and Design (PCD) congress will open its doors on February 8 and 9, 2011. About 80 exhibitors and 1,400 visitors are expected for the 7th edition dedicated to innovation in packaging and dispensing systems for perfumes & cosmetics.

Led by the brands packaging experts, the conference programme of PCD 2011 features an “Innovation Workshop” and several technical presentations.

Chaired by L’Oréal’s Alain Béthune and Charles Duclaux, the innovation workshop is organized in several cosmetics companies and packaging specialists, on the following topics:

 Issues relating to preservative-free products
New services and functionalities: packaging to enhance consumer
 Well-being and life-style
 The samples of the future
Innovation and sustainable development from design to end of life-cycle

« In the field of perfumes and cosmetics, innovation lies at the heart of our activity, be it through new packaging, new technologies, means of communicating with the consumer like point-of-sales advertising or the media. Sitting buyers, packagers and also marketing people at the same table will ease discussions among these various businesses. It is also an excellent means of bringing together certain links like marketing and suppliers, who do not necessarily meet on a daily basis, directly to discuss ideas and needs, to provide answers more quickly and more readily and to foster creativity. In my view, this workshop is fully justified, and I firmly believe it will prove interesting for all the participants at PCD2011 who are keen to develop innovation in their areas, » comments Charles Duclaux, Packaging and Environment Manager at L’Oréal.

Other highlights of these two days include: a review of the state of the art in packaging for personal care products and make-up, and the PCD Awards ceremony.
